The North Garden Bed of The Common Ground was begun on March 29, 2008. This was an Eagle Scout Project by Tim Cowan, with guidance from the Purple Lady - Nancy Angermaier, the master gardener of The Common Ground. The scouts who assisted learned how to plant trees and shrubs and how to properly space them in the new planting bed along the fence on the north side. Organic gardening and methods of weed control were demonstrated. Timothy also built three benches to grace the garden that was completed in May 2008.

On November 7th as a result of this project and many others, Timothy Cowan became an Eagle Scout. Many attended this prestigious ceremony to congratulate him on this successful pursuit. The Common Ground is grateful to Timothy for this worthwhile and living project that not only beautifies the park but also exhibits his dedication to his community. Thank you Timothy Cowan!
